Java and Cloud Wars intensifying .

With the acquisition of SpringSource by VMWare today, the battle on the Cloud front is getting intensified. With this move VMWare and its Parent, EMC are trying to put up a battle against established cloud base Platform as a Service (PAAS) offerings like Google App Engine , Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure .

Springsource is leading the open source initiatives like   Spring Framework , an extensively used Java Framework for Enterprise and Apache Tomcat , which is the most widely used Java application server .

Couple of months ago Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems.  It will be interesting for the Java developer community how these acquisitions are going to affect the Open Source landscape.
